May June & July News

News for May, June & July 2018

May started with the Fun Fair in Ludlow town square and surrounding streets, Clive and I went to the top of Whitcliff to watch all the excitement from a far.

Following week was the Spring Festival over three days set in and around Ludlow Castle. Neil and Christine who are regular guests to Acorn Lodge exhibited their Classic car a Humber Sceptre MKII
1966 and the weather was really lovely for them. The day that Neil and Christine left a lovely calf was born in the very early morning light just in front of the lodge but no one was up to see it. Both cow and calf doing well.

Still continuing this lovely weather we attended a AGM for Shropshire Hills Tourism and tasting of nibbles at Ludlow Food Centre for a lovely midday session. Then a tour and talk around were they prepare all the goodies sold in the shop and restaurant and then went for a little walk to our favourite spot on the Oakley Park Estate to see the river and weir. Ludlow Food Centre is a lovely place to shop and eat well worth a visit which is all part of the Oakley Park Estate.

At the end of the month we held our traditional Fete and Dog show in the village weather was then beginning to change but fun was had by all.

We were given a lovely gift of Sunday Lunch at the Elms Hotel so Clive and I ended MAY with a great day out.

JUNE

What can I say about June only LOVELY FLAMING JUNE, all flowers are outstanding, weather to sit outside and admire all that is around. The birds are all showing there finery we have Blue Tips
feeding there young all on the bird table both at Thomas House and Acorn Lodge. Woodpecker coming to collect food to feed their young seven fat balls in one day? But on the weekend of the 8th June we had a sever storm which came into the cottage though the dormer ceiling onto our bed so we had to move into the extension just for sleeping for the first time, we still have lots to do before we can finally start our new adventure.
