DAY OUT MAKES

Elan Valley

One of our favourite days out is the Elan Valley, which is approx.40 miles from Acorn Lodge. The Dams are tiered to supply the one Dam at the bottom which supplies water to Birmingham. In the visitors centre is a cafe and shop and an information film explaining the whys and wherefores on how the dams were constructed. Another tea room you see on the way round, we have several special places which we like to picnic at and have a short stroll, several toilets available around the Dams and the countryside is beautiful any time of the year. You go through Leintwardine, Knighton, and come back through Kington, before you get to Kington there is a waterfall called “Water breaks its Neck”. The pipeline from the Elan valley runs through our Sons land and evidence can be seen from our land which is approx. half way along the pipe line.
