A Visit to Stokesay Castle

A Visit to Stokesay Castle

Stokesay Castle

Stokesay CastleOne of our recent guests had a couple of drizzly days on their holiday and decided to visit Stokesay Castle for some indoor interest.  Quite a bit has been done at the Castle over the past few years, and as you can see from the photo, their courtyard garden is bright and colourful whatever the weather.  They have also added a Moat Walk right round the outside of the site, and a warm welcome waits you at the visitors’ tea room that has been created inside the Gatehouse.  If anything more is needed to keep the cold out, English Heritage have started selling special drinks such as Sloe Gin, Cranberry Gin and Heritage Spiced Mead (bottles only, but you may sample) from their Gift Shop! The other pictures show a long shot of the Castle from an unusual angle on the public footpath under the railway.

There are often re-enactment events at the Castle or other Shropshire properties, you may well catch one during your stay with us.
