How to Spend a Rainy Afternoon!
Whilst staying at Acorn Lodge and due to some inclement weather, we decided to have a drive over the border into Powys where we visited The Judge’s Lodgings in Presteigne. It is an indoor attraction and was therefore an ideal way to pass a rainy hour or two. A tour of this old building ensued with the use of headphones and Walkmans to provide commentary as we explored the various rooms including the Judge’s living areas, servants quarters, cells and finally the courtroom where we were able to sit and listen to the story of some poor unfortunate soul who had been accused of stealing from a local farmer! It was a fascinating insight into life at the time.
