 Summary of 2013

Sunset at Acorn Lodge

Guests from Banbury and Texas who were visiting their mother who lives in Ludlow ended 2013 and began 2014, their mother enjoyed relaxing in our new chair and looking at all the wildlife with the log burner for extra warmth.

2013 has been another changeable year. The year began with heavy snow for January, February and March, then we had the lovely sunshine. We had guests in the Lodge in March who were not able to go home until the Monday, and the guests who were supposed to come in had to postpone their break until later in the year, but everyone was pleased with how we dealt with the situation.

Once again we obtained 4-stars with Visit England and a Gold Award for the Lodge. Many guests came and also recommended their family and friends, which we like. To be recommended by so many means so much to us. We enjoyed meeting our interesting guests. both regular and new. We learn such a lot from them with all their diverse interests such as Stargazing with an extremely large telescope, collecting moths, fishing & classic cars to name but a few.

This year we had an abundance of fruit, several varieties of apples which we have stored and also given away to guests or anyone who came, plus plenty of
soft fruit and vegetables.I pickled the shallots and bottled the plums, and made jam too.

2014 has started well with bookings up from previous years. Both Clive and I are looking forward to greeting our guests old and new and hope that the
season will be as good as 2013.

Happy New year to you all.
