July – Visit Ludlow

Visit Ludlow

Ludford Bridge

Many of our guests enjoy visiting Ludlow for its historic setting, good food, variety of shops and many other attractions.  Ludlow also has its own wildlife corridor running through it in the shape of the beautiful River Teme.  Over the past 20 years, the weirs on the Teme have been restored by the Restoration Trust  and special attention was paid to providing and enhancing wildlife habitat.  It’s now possible to see Kingfishers, Dippers, Sandpipers (in season) and even Otters – though these are not likely to be seen in broad daylight.  You can certainly see the Swans and their Cygnets, as in these pictures showing the magnificent Horseshoe Weir at Ludford Mill and the sixteenth century Ludford Bridge over the Teme that still carries much traffic in and out of the town.  Why not cross the bridge by car while you are staying with us, park up on the Whitcliff to admire the famous view over the town, then take a walk back down to the river to see the Ludford Bridge and weir, or down the steep Whitcliff paths to the Dinham Bridge and weir?  If you are feeling really energetic, you could do both!
