We had a splendidly warm, dry September almost to the end, and on the last Sunday in the month one of our guests visited the English Heritage property of Witley Court, about 15 miles away.  This is a lovely drive from the Lodge, down through the beautiful Teme Valley and over Abberley Hill.

The Court partly burned down in 1937, so is managed as a ruin and has no roof.  This was no hardship in such lovely warm sunny weather!

Many of our guests have enjoyed visiting the Court, as it has something for everyone – adventure playgrounds for children, wonderful restored gardens, woodland walks in the extensive grounds and of course the stunning great house itself (once one of the finest country houses in Britain) and its magnificent fountain.  And when you are tired of feasting your eyes on the sights, you can feast the “inner man” at a first class tearoom just a short stroll away.

The latest thing to be offered at the Court are boat rides on the lake (in season) that enable passengers to get close to some of the wildlife that abounds in the area, as the boat has a quiet electric motor that doesn’t disturb the tranquillity of the lake.
